Berriedale Braes Improvements Update

The Caithness Transport Forum which is facilitated by the Caithness Partnership is continually lobbying for improvements to the Berriedale Braes as well as other transport priorities identified in the Caithness Transport Vision revised 2009 document which was produced by the Forum.

Funds of £40,000 for a feasibility study into consultant Colin Mackenzie's report have been awarded from HITRANS, The Highland Council and Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd.  Transport Scotland initially had been reluctant to commission the study even though funding had been made available.  As a result of lobbying from a Highland Council Delegation, the Scottish Transport Minister Stuart Stevenson has now authorised Transport Scotland to proceed with the feasibility study.

Once the results of the feasibility study have been published it is hoped that the proposed improvements to the Berriedale Braes will stand a significant chance of going ahead.
