The Health Improvement section (link) of the Community Plan Is reviewed by the Caithness Health Improvement Forum, a sub group of the Caithness Partnership. The aim of the Caithness Health Improvement Forum is to promote the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing of the people of Caithness. The full aims and standing orders of the Forum can be downloaded here under the Health Folder.
The Forum is working on 4 priority themes:
Embedding – attempting to ensure that the principles of health improvement are instilled into every day work practices.
Health inequalities – looking at the accessibility and availability of services for people who may be disadvantaged in any way
Access to healthy food – looking into ways in which health food can be made more accessible and promotion of cooking skills
Substance misuse – (tobacco, alcohol, drugs)
The Forum has set up working groups to carry out actions relating to each of these themes, except Substance Misuse which will be dealt with by the Caithness Drug and Alcohol Forum
Membership of the Forum is made up of a variety of community and agency representatives. In addition the Forum will retain contact with the Community Health Partnership (website link) through the CHP community representatives. The Forum meets several times a year and minutes of the meetings can be downloaded here.
